We all reach a point, at least once in our lives, where we must make a decision on which way we will go. Are you at a crossroads in your life? Are you questioning everything, or maybe just the big things? Do you have decisions to make? Are you frozen with fear that you might make the wrong choice?
Questions and doubts can easily fill our heads and take our minds off of God. Our attention can shift from the provision and love of our Father to the world around us. We must struggle to prevent this from happening. We must know that God loves us and has a plan for us. God is with us and He walks beside us at all times. Our future is held firmly in God’s hands.
When doubts and worries threaten to overtake you, turn to the Father and trust in His loving and capable hands. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Spending time in God’s word helps us to see that He is with us. When we read God’s word and study it, we are reminded of the promises He has made us. God tells us that we are not to worry and He directs our eyes to the lilies and sparrows. He tells us how these seemingly inconsequential things are known and loved by God. We are reminded that God loves us so much more and cares for us in a far greater manner. The more we know God and His promises the more peace we have over an often chaotic and confusing world.
So when you find yourself worrying try these things;
- Be still – take some time to just rest and listen to God. Bring your worries to Him and let Him comfort you and give you confidence to go on.
- Change the channel – Pray and ask God for His help and guidance and then change what and/or how you are thinking. Focus on the good that can come from the situation, or just totally leave the worrisome mess in God’s hand and think about the truth, the honorable, the just, pure, lovely, commendable—the list goes on.
- Stay humble and grateful – Remember that life isn’t about us, it’s about Him. This is a hard concept to wrap our heads around sometimes, but if we remember that we are here for God’s glory and to bring Him praise, our troubles don’t seem so significant.
It is ok to plan for the future, but remind yourself often, that God is in control. He loves us and wants the best for us. He alone can truly see what is best for us, so let’s work to trust in Him and follow Him alone.
