4 Simple Ways to Spend Time with God

Bible Study:  Take 5 minutes to just read a verse from the Bible.  There are many reading programs on the internet that are free to use.  Pick a theme and dig into what God says about it for the month.  Doing this first thing in the morning will give your mind something to think about all day.

Prayer: Prayers don’t have to be formal or long.  God longs to talk with us.  Sending up a prayer of gratitude before eating your lunch, or a prayer for wisdom before tackling a tough project at work.  I often send up a prayer if I see an accident or ambulance speeding away.  Say a quick prayer for children as you pass a school bus or school building.  God wants to hear from us, so let’s go to Him.

Worship music: I love to have worship music playing in my home and car.  The music is calming and helps me to focus on the attributes of Christ throughout my day.  The music focuses my mind on what really matters.  I’m reminded to be thankful to the Father for the gifts He freely gives me.

Creation: I think getting out in nature reminds us of what a wonderfully creative Father we have.  When I think of what the bare minimum for us to survive on this planet are and then I look at all the beauty and creativity God has showered on us, it drives my mind to Him in thanksgiving and praise for all He has blessed me with.
